Something written for an English class in high school, circa August 30, 1990. I have cleaned it up a little but it is mostly true to the paper I turned in. I got a 48/50 and my teacher commented with "Interesting!"
The gypsy was swimming towards the necklace. The necklace was moving towards the man. When the necklace was ten feet in front of him, it stopped and proceeded to lift mysteriously in the air. That was when the gypsy noticed the fin, and then the head, of the shark that was "wearing" the necklace. The gypsy was about to faint right there in the water when he noticed the shark's huge mouth was opening. Fearing the worst, he prepared to swim as fast as he could but then something strange happened. The shark talked.
"Excuse me, sir, but does this belong to you?" asked the shark, referring to the necklace on his fin.
The gypsy, who had seen many bizarre things in his life, was stunned.
"Y-y-yes, it does, I guess," he stammered. He reached over and grabbed the necklace.
Immediately, the shark disappeared beneath the calm water and returned to its resting place. It muttered its opinion of humans before falling asleep.
The gypsy slowly returned to shore and put his clothes on. He returned to his home and fell peacefully asleep. He did not realize it, but the curse on the necklace had been lifted. He lived a long and uneventful life after that, but he was content, for he had the necklace and he had his life.
